Most Searched Travel Hotspots

For that song you can’t remember, that restaurant you can’t place and even that celebrity you’ve been stalking all your life, Google is a click button solution to all those questions (important or otherwise) in your mind. While curiosity has us checking what’s trending on Google every now and then, a consolidated list by the search engine feeds our need and makes our job that much easier. One that particularly caught our interest was the ‘Most searched travel hotspots on Google’, so let’s see what makes these places so special.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Well, maybe being the star destination of Twilight’s last installment spiked more interest in this already popular destination, but one thing’s for sure, Rio has a lot to offer in terms of culture and landscape. From beaches and quaint neighbourhoods, to art galleries and an upmarket club scene, there are reasons aplenty why Rio predictably topped Google’s travel search list. It might interest you to know that this Brazilian haven is also one of the most popular destinations for lesbian and gay travelers. Ola people!

Greece: Old world charm meets new-age amenities in this gorgeous country. With an extensive coastline, numerous islands, beautiful architecture and great sunny weather for a large part of the year, Greece is more a tourist attraction than most others will ever be. From Corfu and Mykonos, to Athens and Rhodes, much of Greece is already popular and has been explored and endorsed by traveller’s from around the world.

Dubai: What Dubai lacks in historical references, it makes up with futuristic ventures and constructions. With skyscrapers that can leave you awestruck and shopping malls that would have you wishing you could maneuver around using a dune buggy, Dubai is as metropolitan and as global as a city of the new world needs to be. Performing artists like David Guetta, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry have only helped double the tourist influx, and make popular this cultural hub of the Middle East.

For a five star treatment, stay at: Burj Al Arab, all the way.

Paris: Reasons we figure Paris is one of the most searched travel hotspots: Proposals at the Eiffel Tower never get old; shopping at the Champs-Élysées Avenue is easily a must-do; you don’t need to be an art lover to fall under the charming spell of the many creations housed at the Louvre museum; numerous cathedrals, one more stunning than the other that make amazing snapshots in those postcards and souvenirs.

For a five star treatment, stay at: Hotel Plaza Athénée, which houses the most expensive suite in the world at $26,000 a night.

London: London is easily a city that will charm most. The diverse culture, many tourist attractions—Kew Gardens, Thames, London Eye—the polished English accent, and the extreme city life will have you hooked in an instant. Simplistic joys like visiting the local pub to more indulgent activities like shopping at Harrods or Bond Street, London has something for every type of traveller.

For a five star treatment, stay at: St Pancras Renaissance, London
